50’s Prime Time Cafe

This was my last meal of this trip and I somehow forgot to take photos of the menu.  Sorry for dropping the ball right before the end of the game. ;)

But thankfully I remembered to take photos of all of my food, starting with my Prime Time favorite…

Peanut Butter & Jelly Milkshake

And a close-up…

There was a time when I would have turned up my nose at the thought of drinking an entire milkshake flavored with peanut butter and jelly.  And then I tasted the PB & J milkshake at 50’s Prime Time and had a mind-changing experience.  So all I can say to those other doubting Thomases out there is, “Don’t knock ’til you’ve tried it!”

Next was an appetizer that I had coveted when I saw the picture that Paula posted on Facebook from their Prime Time lunch (the day before I arrived at WDW)…

Beer-battered Onion Rings served with Horseradish Sauce

And a close-up…

I hadn’t had the onion rings at Prime Time for several years.  These were as good as I had remembered them.  I really liked their crispy breading and the horseradish dipping sauce was tasty.

So far, so good…actually not just good, very good!  But then things took a turn for the worse with my entrée.  For the last 4 or 5 years now, I’ve always ordered the fried chicken at Prime Time because I really like it.  But this time I was determined to try something different for the sake of my dining review.  So what did I choose?…

Cousin Ann’s Traditional Meatloaf – Blend of Beef and Pork topped with Tomato Glaze served with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans

And a close-up…

Ok, let’s start with the good.  The mashed potatoes and green beans were fine.  The meat loaf though was not good.  It had many small pieces of carrots, probably as filler, which kind of turned me off.  Plus the “tomato glaze” tasted like straight up ketchup.  This was a very disappointing ending to the last meal of my trip.  However, 50’s Prime Time is probably still my favorite restaurant at Hollywood Studios.  I will definitely return here on my next trip since I skipped it in December.  I just need to stick with the fried chicken.  Sorry in advance to my dining report viewers.  ;)
