Beach Club Marketplace

Breakfast #1 – December 13, 2016

This was my first ever visit to the Beach Club Marketplace, which serves as the quick service dining facility for the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts as well as their convenience store/gift shop.

Once inside the Marketplace (located just down the hallway from the lobby at the Beach Club Resort), I decided that I was hungry and wanted more than just coffee.  So I took a look at their small Breakfast Menu…

And also I surveyed (and photographed) the hot food that was on display and being served, starting with the Mickey waffles…

Behind the waffles was their Potato Casserole that I had heard about…

Sausage and Bacon…

And Biscuits and Scrambled Eggs…

So what did I choose?…

Breakfast Sandwich with Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, and Cheese on a Croissant, served with Potato Casserole – $6.99

And a close-up of the sandwich…

And one of the Potato Casserole…

I got this along with a refillable mug (valid for my length of stay) for $17.99, which I filled with coffee every morning of our 7 night stay at the Beach Club.  So with the price of coffee at $2.79 (plus tax) I determined that I would come out ahead by buying the refillable mug.  As an added bonus, I also got the 45th Anniversary Annual Passholder Discount of 20% on the mug (reducing the price by about $3.50) and all the food that we purchased at the Marketplace during our stay (this discount is available through 9-30-17). This in addition to my son using the mug for soda a few times made the refillable mug a pretty good deal on this trip.

Anyway, after checking out I decided to take my food back up to our room.  Although there are a few tables (4 or 5) outside the entrance to the Marketplace…

…to me these tables seem like you are eating in the hallway.  There were also tables across the hallway in a solarium area but from what I could see they were all occupied.

Unfortunately once I got back up to our room and took photos, my food was a bit cold.  I wished then that we were staying at the Beach Club Villas so that I could have microwaved my breakfast.  However, even cold my breakfast was pretty good.  The croissant sandwich was a little messy to eat since (as you can see in my photos) it was generously filled with scrambled eggs.  The sandwiches like this that I’ve had before have had the eggs “pressed” into a scrambled egg patty like this…

A croissant sandwich filled with bacon, cheddar cheese and scrambled egg

The funny thing is that this photo was actually stolen from the Beach Club Marketplace page of the official Disney World website.    However, though I was slightly annoyed when I picked up my sandwich to take a bite and half of the scrambled eggs fell out, I actually enjoyed the fresher tasting “loose” scrambled eggs better than the compressed version…I just had to eat my sandwich with the help of a fork and knife.  ;)  Another thing that was a little different about my sandwich than the one pictured in the Disney World website photo is the type of cheese.  My sandwich had what I think was either provolone or white American cheese.  In the Disney photo it looks like the sandwich has regular American cheese but their caption says it’s cheddar.  Regardless though, my cheese was fine.  As for the potato casserole, which I had heard was wonderful, it was pretty good.  It probably would have been better if it was warm though.

The Beach Club Marketplace has only 11 reviews on Yelp, but the average rating given by those 11 is 4 stars.  I would probably agree with this assessment based on my first-ever visit there.
