Boardwalk Bakery

Since this was my one and only visit to the bakery of this trip, I wanted to take lots ofa photos of the current offerings in their display case for this review. Unfortunately it was a busy Sunday morning at the bakery though and not wanting to slow the line down I quickly shot just a few photos as I was walking by. Therefore, I must apologize for their poor quality.
But here are a few of the things I saw there, starting with their cupcakes. First there were a couple of their regulars, the Strawberry Cupcakes…

This version of their strawberry cupcake has been around for a few years now. While I’ve never had one, I’ve heard that they are vanilla cupcakes with strawberry filling topped with vanilla-strawberry swirl icing. Then there are also chocolate shavings and a strawberry half dipped in white and dark chocolate sits on top. One of these days I need to try this!
Another cupcake that’s been around for awhile at the Boardwalk is their Oreo Mickey Mouse Cupcake…

I believe this one is a chocolate cupcake with vanilla icing. And of course there is an Oreo half-dipped in red-colored white chocolate and complete with chocolate discs for ears and yellow candy buttons to look like Mickey Mouse.
Then since this was late October their Seasonal Specialty Cupcake was Halloween-themed…

Also I noticed they were offering dome cakes here now which were similar to those at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, though not quite as elaborate…

But the bakery isn’t all about the sweets and breakfast pastries.  They also have a Sandwich menu that’s always changing.  This time they were featuring an Italian Sandwich that looked pretty good…

And also a Roast Beef Sandwich…

But I was there for breakfast so no sandwiches, cupcakes or desserts for me.

Now my usual choice for breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery is a Blueberry Muffin

But I resisted the urge to go with my usual and instead looked for something different to try.  I thought about having my son’s favorite here, a Chocolate Chip Muffin

…but correctly concluded that that was not different enough.

Next I noticed these Mixed Berry Scones

…which I don’t recall seeing at the bakery before.  And then there was something I’ve seen here before many times and thought looked good, the Jersey Crumb Cake

But then I spotted today’s winner, a Cinnamon Roll

And a closer look…

I took this back to my room to enjoy along with a cup of coffee and it was good.  This roll was very different from the one I had had the morning before at Gaston’s Tavern.  While I liked the thinner roll here, as it was more moist and not so “bready” and filling, I liked the combination vanilla and caramel icing of the Gaston roll better than the cream cheese frosting on this one.
