Boardwalk Inn Room #5266

I have stayed at the Boardwalk Inn at least 10 times in the last 15 years because it is one of my favorite Disney World hotels.  The primary reason for this is its location, within walking distance (or a very short boat ride) from my favorite park, Epcot.  But I also like the rooms at the Boardwalk Inn.  This time I was assigned a room on the 5th floor, Room #5266.  Though I did not request it, my room had one king-size bed rather than the usual two queens…

Other than that my room looked pretty much the same as my room in October 2016, therefore I didn’t take many photos this time.  Here is a photo I found online of the bathroom sink/vanity area of the BWI rooms…

Mine looked like this except that the door (with a full-length mirror on the outside) to the separate room with the tub/shower and toilet was on the other side, as was the makeup mirror which is mounted on the wall.
Regarding toiletries, back in August of this year (2017) I read an article saying that some of the Disney World resorts were switching to these shower dispensers containing their guests’ complimentary soaps (shampoo, conditioner, body wash)…

However, at the Boardwalk Inn (and also at the Polynesian and Animal Kingdom Lodge) they still had the small sample size bottles and no dispensers in the shower…

Which made me happy because I really liked the Sea Salt Body Lotion and took home a few bottles.

A few other changes which I noticed were that the television seemed larger this year…

The dresser (armoire) was smaller (shown underneath the tv), but I think they were the same as last year.  Prior to that they looked like this…

There were also cool new curtains on the door to the balcony…

My balcony was small (room for only one chair) and had this inner courtyard view…

Also a view of the private Garden Suites…

…which I would love to stay in sometime.  However, with a minimum nightly rate of  $782 (to as much as $1200 during the Holidays), it is highly unlikely that that dream will ever come true.

So anyway, not a bad view for a Standard View price…no parking lots, dumpsters, roof tops, etc.  I was quite pleased.

But on my 4th night there of my 5 night stay, I discovered a great bonus regarding my room’s location.  For the first time I was in the room during the Illuminations show at Epcot (which started at 10:00 p.m. on weekend nights, 9:00 p.m. on weekdays during my trip).  When I heard the fireworks I went out to my balcony to see if I could see them and was rewarded with this view…
