The French bakery is probably my favorite place at Epcot to get breakfast. I have always found their food to be both good and reasonably priced. So if entering the park at the International Gateway (World Showcase) entrance then more often than not this is my choice for having a quick breakfast. And since we were starting this trip with a day at Epcot and walking there from our hotel (the Swan), Les Halles was the perfect place for the first meal of our trip.
We arrived at Les Halles before 9:00. Although it had only been open for less than 1/2 hour, there was already a line. However, the line moved quickly and I spent most of our wait time checking out their menus and taking these photos…

Once we got to the front and placed our order, I took a few photos of some of the food in their display cases. First the savory items…

Then the sweets, of which they have quite a selection…

Both of us spotted this sweet pastry at the same time and couldn’t resist adding it to our order…

I’m not sure what this was called (I don’t recall there being a sign) but it was basically a lemon blueberry croissant pastry.
Here is a closer shot of our pastry…

Unfortunately this didn’t taste as good as it looked. The crust part of the pastry was quite dry and had a strong lemon flavor. The spoonful of sweet blueberries was tasty but there wasn’t enough of it to compensate for the dryness and tartness of the croissant. We agreed on a rating of only 2 1/2, as it was below average and not something that we would choose again.
But here is a photo of our entire order, which pretty much covered our small, standing table (which was the only table available in the small dining area of Les Halles)…

That is one negative about Les Halles, they don’t have nearly enough seating for how popular it is.
Even though we both needed coffee (due to getting in from the airport very late the night before), we knew better than to get coffee here. From our previous experiences at Les Halles, we believe that they make their coffee with dirty dishwater, lol. Just kidding. We don’t like the coffee here but your YMMV,
The hot beverage they do well though is Hot Chocolate, or Chocolat Chaud as they call it here…

This is always a 5 for me!
Don opted for milk, which came in a small carton for $4.25.
For food, he chose the…

Croissant Sale – Egg, Cheese and Bacon Croissant – $9.75
They heated this up in their oven and I think they left it in for just a little too long. So with it being a bit overcooked, he gave it only a 3 1/2, or just slightly above average.
As for me, I always have to go with the…

Quiche Lorraine – Ham and Gruyere Quiche – $7.50
This seemed to be a bit undercooked in the middle so wasn’t as good as it has been in the past. The cooked parts of it were still a bit above average though so I gave it a rating of 3 1/2 .
Unfortunately our breakfast was cut short due to my medical emergency, which I mentioned in the introduction to this trip report. I won’t include that in this review though because it not the fault of the restaurant or staff. Unfortunately though that memory will stay with me for awhile. This will not prevent me from returning to Les Halles in the future but I can’t say that it won’t affect my enjoyment in eating there a bit.
