Captain Cook’s Breakfast

Since I covered most of Captain Cook’s breakfast pastry options during my breakfast review from the previous morning, I’ll skip those and get right to the hot breakfast items which I chose from…

Once again I had both a table service lunch and dinner planned today (with the Deluxe Dining Plan) so I didn’t want a big breakfast.  Therefore, I again chose a Kids’ Meal.  The previous day I went with the Kids’ Mickey waffles so this time I had the…

Oops, I got it to go and brought it back to my room to eat so it was covered with a plastic lid, which did a pretty good job of keeping my food warm.   Let’s look under the lid now, shall we?…

Kids French Toast served with Bacon, Apple Slices, and a choice of a small water or milk – $6.49

A closer look…

And the bill…

My first note of interest is that an Adult size portion of French Toast is not available at Captain Cook’s.  Perhaps this is because Captain Cook’s has Tonga Toast instead.

But Tonga Toast is about 4 times as thick as regular French Toast, has about 4 times the sugar, and is about 4 times as filling.  So if you’re like me and Tonga Toast isn’t your thing, then maybe the French Toast is a better choice for you.  However, if you don’t want all of the other food (scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, and a biscuit) that you get with the Bounty Breakfast Platter, then the Kids portion of French Toast is the only way to go here.

So was my French Toast good?  Well, it was pretty good, but not as good as the Mickey waffles from the day before.  The bacon though was better, as it was not overcooked and brittle like yesterday.

Last I want to mention the coffee, which I again got with my refillable mug (included in the Dining Plan).  The coffee on Day 2 was not as good as Day 1.  On the first morning, I was there very early (before 7:00 a.m.) and the coffee tasted freshly made and very good.  However, I was there much later on the second morning (around 10:00 a.m.) and unfortunately the coffee tasted burned and bitter.  So I guess the old saying of, “You snooze, you lose”, applied to the coffee at Captain Cook’s.  Lol

And so that just leaves the ratings and rankings.  Yelp reviewers gave Captain Cook’s 3 1/2 stars and based on my two breakfasts I would agree with their assessment.  The reviewers on Trip Advisor though rated Captain Cook’s 4 stars and ranked it #516 of the more than 3,000 Places to Eat in Orlando reviewed there.  Narrowing it down to just the 360 or so Disney World area restaurants, Captain Cook’s ranked #153 by the reviewers of Trip Advisor.
