Dawa Bar, A Tale of Two Visits

I’ve had breakfast at Tusker House a few times and have noticed this bar which lies next to it.  However, I had never before taken the time to see what it had to offer…

While it seemed to be pretty much a full bar, with wine, beer on draft and in bottles, and mixed drinks available, I thought their specialty cocktails sounded more interesting.  However it was about 10:30 or 11:00 in the morning so I really wasn’t ready to drink a margarita or a mojito, lol.  Hunter did though talk me into joining them for a Bloody Mary, and I’m so glad he did!

Wow, this was good!!  I don’t usually like to start drinking this early in the day, but for a good mimosa or bloody mary I will make an exception…and this was good one!

And a toast between friends…

On my next trip to Disney World (just a few months later in December 2016) I returned to the Dawa Bar, this time with my kids.

I of course got a delicious Bloody Mary…

But my kids aren’t really fans of the Bloody Mary, so they each chose a drink from the Dawa Bar’s Specialty Cocktails menu…

From left to right: My son’s Tikiti Punch with Snow Leopard Vodka and Watermelon Lemonade; My daughter’s Lost on Safari with Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Pink Pigeon Mauritian Rum, and Pangani Punch (which I think is a combination of orange, pineapple, cranberry and strawberry juice); My Dawa Bloody Mary with Snow Leopard Vodka, Loaded Bloody Mary Mix, Worcestershire Sauce, and Horseradish Garnished with a skewer of Truffle and Blue-Cheese-stuffed Olive and Prosciutto.

We all enjoyed our drinks!

So if you ever find yourself in the Africa area of Animal Kingdom and are parched, I highly recommend a stop at the Dawa Bar for a refreshing cocktail.
