Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge

I met up with my friends, Paula and Hunter, at the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge, where they were having cocktails and a snack to hold them over until we attended the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party that evening.

In case you are unfamiliar with this lounge, it is just an outdoor fenced off patio in front of the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant at Hollywood Studios…

While I’ve dined at the restaurant a few times in recent years, I’ve never been to this outdoor lounge which opened in Fall 2013.

Here was their menu as of Oct. 26, 2017…

Before telling you about this visit to the lounge, I’ll first talk about Paula and Hunter’s previous visit (earlier in their trip, before I arrived).  During this first time (which was also their first ever visit) at the HBD lounge they had both drinks and food.

To start they both had a Bloody Mary…

Bloody Mary with Absolut Peppar Vodka and Bloody Mary Mix garnished with House-made Pickles, Celery, and Olives

They liked these a lot!

For food they chose three items under the Small Bites section of the menu, starting with this…

Cochinita Pibil Steamed Buns with Green Tomatillo, Habanero Sauce, and Pickled Onions

And also this…

Tamarind Glazed Pork Belly with Chorizo, Plantain, Sweet Potato Hash, and Mango Pico de Gallo

And their third choice was this…

Braised Beef Arepas with Roasted Red Pepper, and Fresno Chili Coulis

Their assessment of the food, “The arepas were phenomenal!! The steamed buns were really good.  The pork belly was not good though.  We sent it back for more arepas.”

Then they also tried and enjoyed the…

Red Sangria – Red Wine blended with Grand Marnier, Stirrings Pomegranate Liqueur, Fruit Juices, and fresh Fruit topped with Sprite®

So what did they choose on their second visit to the HBD lounge?

Another round of Bloody Marys…

And they again had the Arepas…

They said both the Bloody Marys and arepas were again great!

I stuck with an ice cold glass of water here though, as I was hoping to get hungry again before it was time to go to the dessert party.
