It was about 5:00 (on a Wednesday afternoon) when we decided to check out this relatively new bar at Disney Springs. Recently they had introduced a Happy Hour menu which is available from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
As you can see, the very limited Happy Hour menu includes only three appetizer choices plus pitchers of beer ( 4 choices), a couple of wine selections, and just two cocktails.
None of the three Happy Hour appetizers were listed on their regular menu…
They also had a menu section with their seasonal offerings…
After placing our order with the server, it was fun to look around at our surroundings and all the paraphernalia mounted on the walls and hanging from the ceiling.
They really went all out with the theming here. I halfway expected a group of pilots in bomber jackets to walk in the door at any time…if not Indiana Jones himself!
I had ordered two items from the Happy Hour menu. The first was this cocktail…
Screwdriver with SKYY Vodka and Orange Juice
It had been many years since I had had a screwdriver and having this one made me wonder why. A simple drink that went down quite easily. And in case you were wondering, the glass that it was served in was actually slanted…your eyes are not playing tricks on you!
And because my drink had a generous amount of vodka, I was glad that I had ordered a snack for us to share to help counteract the effects of the alcohol.
From the Happy Hour menu I chose this appetizer…
Belloq’s Bacon Fries (Menu Description: BACON!! These Thick-cut Fries tossed with Hardwood Smoked Bacon, a House-made Chimichurri Sauce, and Premium Cheeses are the envy of hungry archaeologists)
And a little closer look…
These were a disappointment. From the menu description of BACON!! in all caps I was expecting a lot more bacon. Instead there was just a very light dusting of bacon bits on the very top of the pile of fries. And the cheese and chimichurri sauce were nearly non-existent as well. So these were basically just thick-cut french fries. Nothing more than that.
Paula also ordered this drink from their Specialty Cocktail menu…
Bedtime Story (Absolut Mandarin Vodka, Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur, Hibiscus Syrup, Fresh Lemon Juice, and Iced Tea
It was a beautiful drink, with a flower-shaped fruit candy (Hunter called it pate de fruit) perched at the top, and she enjoyed it.
So our first-ever visit to Jock Lindsey’s bar was for the most part a success. The drinks were good and the theming was great. I hope to return (if not during next month’s trip, then on next year’s trip) and try some of the appetizers from their regular menu. There are several that sound good, so hopefully (unlike the BACON fries) their taste will live up to their menu description.
