Karamell-Küche

During our day of “Eating & Drinking Around World Showcase”, I passed up the opportunity to have the zeppole for dessert during our lunch at Italy’s Via Napoli and instead went next door to Germany’s Karamell-Küche.

I always have to bring home a bag of caramel corn from Karamell-Küche.  Since this was our last day at Epcot, I made the purchase of my usual take-home treat…

And a closer look…

But we were also there to get something sweet to eat right away.  This is what I had in mind…

And a closer look…

I had been tempted by this Dark Chocolate Cupcake with Caramel Buttercream Frosting and drizzled with salted caramel sauce during previous visits but was never with someone who was willing to share it with me.  But this time I had my chocolate-loving daughter with me so….

Sadly, we were disappointed.  The cake was kind of dry and flavorless.  Tasted like it had been sitting in that display case for quite awhile.  Without the help of the frosting (which was tasty), we likely would have pitched this in the nearest trash can.  Well, that and the fact that I paid $5.59 for it!

My son though seemed happier with his choice…

He said his Mickey Rice Krispie Treat (with chocolate-dipped ears and drizzled with caramel) was good.  I can not confirm because he devoured it quickly and without asking if his sister or I would like a bite.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the Rice Krispie Treat was $5.49, just 10 cents less than the cupcake.  Also in regard to prices, if you are an Annual Passholder don’t forget to ask for your AP discount here.  Normally this is a 10% discount, but during this 45th Anniversary Celebration time (Oct. 1 – 2016 – Sept. 30, 2017) the discount is 20%…making that not-so-great cupcake only about $4.50.
