Kona Café Breakfast

Kona Café is among my favorite full-service Disney restaurants for breakfast.  One menu item in particular is the reason for my allegiance to Kona Café…

If they should ever remove this from their breakfast menu, like they did to another popular entrée…

The Big Kahuna – French Toast, Pancakes topped with Pineapple Sauce and Macadamia Nut Butter, Eggs, Home-fried Potatoes, Ham, Bacon and Sausage

…then breakfast at Kona Café would no longer be a must-do for me.  However, I should note here that a guest at the table next to mine specifically requested and was able to get the The Big Kahuna.

So what is my “Go-To” entrée at Kona?…

Macadamia Nut Pancakes topped Macadamia Nut Butter and Pineapple Sauce and served with your choice of Ham, Spiced Ham, Bacon or Sausage (I chose sausage)

From a few other angles…

These were delicious as usual but as always, super rich and filling.  I’ve never been able to eat more than 1/2 of this tower of three large pancakes.  If I had a microwave in my room I would take the leftovers to have another day, but sadly no microwave so the uneaten pancakes were left behind.

One more note to add regarding their Seasonal Pancakes, which in October are always pumpkin flavored…

A few years ago a friend and dining companion had these…

Back then they were topped with Maple Pecan Butter (as shown in the above photo).  Now though these are apparently topped with Pumpkin Cream Cheese.

I’ll hold off on the ratings and rankings for now because I returned to Kona Café for breakfast later in the week to try something other than the pancakes.  Can you guess what it was??
