Yes, the above unfocused picture was taken by a PhotoPass photographer…and sadly that was the best one of the bunch!!
Anyway, my son and I attended the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on Sunday, December 11, 2016. We were able to enter the park with our party tickets at 4:00 and then used the two Fast Passes that I was able to schedule between 4:00 – 7:00 with our party tickets. We then had a 6:40 dinner reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern. They were running behind schedule so by the time we were seated and had dinner it was about 8:00 before we left the restaurant, one hour after the official starting time of the party. People were already lining up along the parade route in Liberty Square, so we decided to find a spot in front of the Hall of Presidents and sat down and waited for the Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade to begin…
But wait, that’s actually the end of the parade. Let’s rewind and start from the beginning with our hosts, Mickey & Minnie…
After the parade passed us, we took off in the opposite direction to ride Haunted Mansion with barely any wait. Then we picked up some eggnog and gingersnap molasses cookies at Heritage House in Liberty Square on our way towards the Castle. Once there we found a good viewing spot for the fireworks in the grassy area near Casey’s Corner and sat down to enjoy our treats.
Here was the list of all of the locations where you could get complimentary treats:
- Tortuga Tavern (Adventureland) – Hot Chocolate and Snickerdoodle cookie
- Heritage House (Liberty Square) – Eggnog and Gingersnap Molasses Cookie
- The Friar’s Nook (Fantasyland) – Snow Cone and Snowman Sugar Cookie
- The Lunching Pad (Tomorrowland) – Hot Chocolate and Peppermint Bark Cookie
- Pete’s Silly Sideshow (Fantasyland) – Spiced Apple Cider and Snowman Sugar Cookie
The last time I attended a MVMCP in December 2013 the complimentary treats were only hot chocolate and snickerdoodle cookies, so it was nice that they had a variety of things available this year.
Then as scheduled the Holiday Wishes Fireworks began at 10:00…
Ok, that was the last one.
Oops, I lied…
After the fireworks I wanted to go see the Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show and then maybe watch the parade again at 11:00. My son wanted to ride more rides. Guess who won???
Yep, we did Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at least twice, Journey of the Little Mermaid, and Buzz Lightyear twice. There were probably other rides, but that’s all I can remember. We also picked up some spiced apple cider and snowman sugar cookies at Pete’s in Fantasyland and hot chocolate and peppermint bark cookies from The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland. All were good!
Then before you know it was 12:00 and time for the party to end. We made our way to the very crowded Main Street where there was a mass exodus.
We stopped to have our photo taken by a PhotoPass photographer in front of the castle…
I couldn’t believe it when the photos showed up on my account with a fake castle in the background. To say that I was disappointed with the PhotoPass photographers at this party would be an understatement.
Luckily, my son had taken a selfie of us so we at least had one photo with the real castle behind us…
We also took another selfie in front of the Town Square Christmas Tree 🎄
And then here is an unobstructed view of the lighted Christmas Tree…
And that completed our evening. It didn’t exactly follow my well-researched and thought out plan, as my son is not really a “follow a plan” type. But we saw the two things which topped my list (the parade and the fireworks) and we had a good time so it was all good!
