Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill

My daughter and I had lunch at Moonshine on a Tuesday afternoon.

We began our lunch here with a cocktail…

I believe mine was on left and was Hard Lemonade with Tito’s Vodka and Paula’s Texas Lemon Liqueur.  I seem to recall that it was fairly strong.  My daughter tried one of their moonshine cocktails.  I believe it was called Midnight Moon Strawberry Hard Lemonade.  Whatever it was, she seemed to like it but I tasted it and didn’t care for it.  Apparently I’m not a fan of moonshine.

For our entrees, my mac & cheese lovin’ daughter ordered this…

Green Chile Macaroni with grilled chicken, corn bisque, and bacon gratin

And a little closer view…

Again she liked it but I thought it was a bit too spicy.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed my entree choice…

Chicken & Waffles served with maple syrup, whipped butter and chipotle cream gravy

And with the gravy and syrup…

The waffles were a little different than the usual ones, as they are made with corn meal batter.  The chicken breast strips were perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside.  But what really made this dish great was the combination of the slightly spicy chipotle cream gravy and just a little maple syrup.  So good!!!

Based on these two entrees we rated Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill 4 1/2 stars.  Yelp and Trip Advisor reviewers also rated this restaurants 4 1/2 so for the first time we were all in agreement.  Also, Moonshine ranked #17 best of all the Austin restaurants reviewed on Trip Advisor and an even higher rank of #6 best on Yelp.
