This was the first time I had been to Nine Dragons since its extensive renovation in 2008. I was amazed at how beautiful this restaurant is…
The dark wood furnishings, light fixtures, etched glass windows, etc., etc….all stunning!
With so few customers, I had a server all to myself. He presented me with their lunch menu…
I asked for iced tea and he said their tea was actually blackberry jasmine iced tea. That sounded fine by me, so blackberry jasmine it was…
I have to say that I was expecting blackberry tea to be darker in color than this was. However, I loved the light, refreshing flavor of this tea and ended up getting at least one, maybe even two refills.
I had skipped breakfast, other than a cup of coffee, so I was pretty hungry. I decided to order both an appetizer and an entree. For my appetizer I went with…
Shanghai Spring Rolls – Two hand-crafted Spring Rolls filled with Chicken, Shrimp and Fish
And a close up…
My server told me that the lettuce could be used to wrap the spring rolls in, but I passed on the greens and went straight for the spring rolls. And they were very good, especially when dipped in the spicy peanut sauce. A sweet and sour sauce also came with the spring rolls, but I preferred the peanut one.
I guess I didn’t get quite enough shrimp the night before at Cape May, because for my entree I chose…
Peppery Shrimp with Lightly Spiced Spinach Noodles
And a look underneath the mound of greenery…
This was just okay. The shrimp didn’t taste as fresh as what I had had the night before at Cape May. Plus the shrimp and noodles were not all that flavorful considering they were described as “peppery” and “lightly spiced”.
I had something else in mind for dessert from another World Showcase location, so that concluded my meal at Nine Dragons. If you are at Epcot and are looking for a very quiet, air-conditioned meal in beautiful surroundings without a reservation, then Nine Dragons would be a good option. I just wouldn’t recommend the peppery shrimp entree.
