Roundup Rodeo BBQ Review – March 2025

This was our first time dining at this restaurant which opened in Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land in March of 2023.

Our group enjoyed the Toy Story theme of this park’s newest restaurant, but wished that they had taken it one step further and added characters to this meal.

Here’s a few photos I took inside…

Here is a photo of their menu…

The price of this meal was $49.00 per person and $28.00 for children (ages 3 – 9). I was given a 10% discount because I used my Chase Disney VISA to pay for dinner.

Now on to the food, which was served family-style at our table. Since we were a party of 6 or more (we were 6 adults and 1 child) we were automatically served two platters and two bowls of everything, so the food covered nearly every inch of our table.

NOTE: All of the food has clever names to go along with the theme. Or at least they tried to be clever, lol.

The first thing brought to our table was the Bread Service…

The Prospector’s Homemade Cheddar Biscuits served with Sweet Pepper Jelly

These were delicious! They ended up being one of the two best things we were served at this meal. These made almost everyone’s favorites list. So we were off to a good start.

Next up are the salads. First the…

Rootin’ Tootin Tomato Salad with Cucumbers, Pickled Red Onion, and dressed with White Balsamic Vinaigrette (Plant-based)

The Tomato Salad was on Jake’s list of favorites.

The other salad was..

Wheezy’s Watermelon Salad with fresh-torn mint

I was surprised at how strong the mint flavor was. I would have preferred just plain fresh-cut watermelon. It’s interesting that this salad has been replaced by Wheezy’s Fruit Salad (per the current May 2026 menu). However, I’m not sure if this is just a name change or if it’s actually a different salad.

Now for the Meat platter…

Included on this platter were Evil Dr. Smoked Ribs, Buttercup’s Beef Brisket, There’s a Sausage in my Boot (Fire-grilled Pork Sausage) and BBQ Chicken-with Style! A bowl of Buckin’ Baked Beans was also placed on this platter.

Our opinions of the meats varied. The consensus was that the Ribs were the best meat on this platter, with almost everyone listing them as a favorite. So the ribs, along with the biscuits, were the highlights of this meal. Our opinions of the Brisket differed. While Allison and I thought it was just okay, the guys of our group all had it as one of their favorites. While Allison liked the Chicken, the rest of us either disliked it (including me) or thought it was just okay. And that just leaves the Sausage…no one liked that coil of sausage. Oh, and by the way, I should mention that Don did give a shout out for the beans, listing them as one of his favorites. However, he is a sucker for baked beans. They would have to be pretty bad for him not to like them. And these weren’t bad, but nothing special.

On the menu they indicated that salmon was available upon request (no additional charge) so we requested it…

Cedar Plank Saloon Salmon

I was very glad we did ask for salmon because I liked it better than any of the meats. It was also among Don’s and Jake’s favorite food from this meal.

Now for the other sides, like the…

The Claw! Veggie Slaw (aka Cole Slaw)

This was just your ordinary cole slaw. Nothing to write home about.

Cowpoke Corn on the Cob

They tried…but sadly they failed. But in the interest of full disclosure, we grow our own sweet corn at home so our standards for corn on the cob are quite high. But this one did not come close to reaching our high bar.

Another of sides that was served was…

Slinky Doooooooooog Mac & Cheese

The Mac & Cheese made Jake’s list of favorites. However, after having the Mac & Cheese at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ and at Biergarten in the last two days, this one did not impress me. For me, this was just okay.

The last side we had was Lucy’s favorite…

Potato Barrels…the only food that didn’t have a special name here. These were your basic tater tots but Lucy really enjoyed them.

Just a couple more things to add before we get to the desserts. The first is in regard to the included beverages for this meal…

In addition to the usual sodas and Powerade they also offered three kinds of iced tea, one of which caught my attention. I had the Peach Tea and though it wasn’t as good as I’d thought it would be, I do give them bonus points for offering something different here.

Another positive to mention is the cute plastic plates that looked like paper ones…

They fit in perfectly with the “picnic” vibe of this meal.

Okay now for the desserts. There were 4 Mini Pie-in-a-Jar desserts listed on the menu plus a cupcake for Kids. Our server offered to bring us two platters of all 5 of these desserts so that the 7 of us could try them all.

Lucy enjoyed one of the Cupcakes a la Forky, which was a chocolate cupcake with graham cracker buttercream frosting and was topped with a Forky decorated sugar cookie. The rest of us (except for Don who generally doesn’t like cake) shared the other cupcake and thought it was tasty.

As for the four other mini desserts in a jar…

They were Billy’s Chocolate Silk Pie (front left), Goat’s Applie Pie (front right), Gruff’s Peach-Strawberry Pie (back left) and Bo’s Lemon and Blueberry Cheesecake (back right).

Here’s another look…

We agreed that Billy and Gruff knew what they were doing when making their desserts because the Chocolate Silk Pie and the Peach-Strawberry Pie were both good. They were simple but tasty. The other two though were not so good.

So overall this meal was fine. The ribs, biscuits, salmon and some of the desserts were enjoyed by our group. But unless they add characters to this meal at some point in the future, Roundup Rodeo is probably a one and done for us.
