We arrived at The Fountain just before 10:00 p.m. and found a nearly empty restaurant, with only one other table occupied by a party of 2. My son and I were seated at one of the two-top tables next to one of the blue outside walls. Here is a photo of the menu we were presented…
My son wanted a soda but I believe all they had were Craft Sodas for $3.99. He ordered a Boylan Cream Soda.
We decided to split a sandwich and fries in the hopes of saving room for ice cream. We chose the Fountain Signature Burger (which was split for us before it was brought to our table)…
The Fountain Signature Burger – Two 4 oz. Angus Burgers, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Avocado-Bacon Aioli, Caramelized Onion, Tomato, and American Cheese on a Sesame Brioche Bun – $16.95
A closer view…
And even closer…
This is normally served with regular french fries but my son really likes sweet potato fries so we paid the upgrade charge of $2.00 to have sweet potato fries. Both the burger and fries were okay but for $18.95 I was expecting better than okay. I did though enjoy the avocado-bacon aioli.
We then thought we had enough room left to share an ice cream dessert. Here were the many available choices…
We chose to share the Create-Your-Own Sundae…
Create-Your-Own Sundae begins with one scoop or swirl of your choice of ice cream, favorite sauce and dry topping, topped with whipped cream and a cherry – $6.00
A slightly different view…
So my son wanted cookie dough ice cream and I wanted mint chocolate chip so our kind server allowed us to have both. For our sauce we chose hot fudge and brownie pieces was our dry topping choice. The sundae was pretty good, but after a few bites we were both too full to finish it.
I must also note here that for the same price of $6.00 you can get a smaller version (with two scoops of ice cream) of the famous No Way Jose sundae at Beaches & Cream (at the Beach Club Resort) and it is much better than this one at The Fountain.
And speaking of the No Way Jose Sundae, here it is in all its glory…
And that just leaves the ratings for The Fountain, Yelp reviewers rated it 3 stars while it received 4 stars from the reviewers at Trip Advisor. I would probably split the difference and give The Fountain a rating of 3 1/2. While I would give their food a rating of only 3, because of the great service we received (however, keep in mind we were practically the only guests there) I gave it an extra 1/2 star. And in case you were curious, The Fountain ranks #534 of the approximately 3,000 Orlando restaurant reviewed on Trip Advisor and #168 of the restaurants in the Disney World area. This ranking was by far the lowest of the restaurants we had visited so far on this trip. Will it remain at the bottom??
