Donald’s Dining Safari Breakfast at Tusker House Restaurant – ROL 1st Viewing
10:50 AM – Breakfast

This was my 4th visit to Tusker House with the last one being in October 2015.  The first visit was for a pre-park opening breakfast, but then I learned a tip from my friends that if you schedule a late breakfast you will then have both breakfast and lunch options available to you on the buffet.  So in other words, you get twice the food options at the cheaper breakfast price.  Therefore my subsequent visits (including this one) have all been for “brunch”.

My friends, Paula & Hunter, and I checked in early at about 10:30 for our 10:50 breakfast reservation (lunch reservations begin at 11:00). Note that because we were doing the Rivers of Light Dining Package we paid $39 plus tax & tip (Tables in Wonderland not accepted for the ROL package) instead of the regular price of $34 (as shown on their sign above).  The package price for lunch or dinner though is $52, or $13 more than what we paid for breakfast (and $7 more than the regular non-ROL package price).

By 10:40 we were seated, ordered our included beverages, and I was up at the buffet line taking photos of the breakfast offerings.

So let’s get started with those, beginning with some breads and pastries.  First there were Croissants

And what was called Zebra Coffee Cake

Blueberry Bread

Pumpkin Bread

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

And Doughnut Holes

Chocolate Twists

Then from the Hot Foods section, the always popular Mickey Waffles

Sausage Patties

Bacon

Scrambled Eggs

Tater Tots

Potato and Leek Frittata

Ham and Cheese Frittata

Biscuits & Sausage Gravy

Banana Bread Pudding with Vanilla Anglaise

Fried Plantains

And they also had Oatmeal in this section but I failed to get a photo of it.

From the Carving Station, Spit-Roasted Bone-In Ham

And Sweet & Spicy Honey Mustard

Next they began putting out the Lunch foods, like Cape Malay Curry Chicken

Basmati Rice (with Lemon, Cinnamon, & Cardomom)

Beef Bobotie

Tandoori Tofu

Oven-Roasted Rainbow Carrots

Roasted Vegetable Couscous

Collard Greens

Vegetable Samosas

Coconut Sweet Potato Casserole

Oven Roasted Red Skin Potatoes

Pigeon Peas and Rice

Spit-roasted Chicken

A Shrimp Curry dish…

Mealie Pap

From the Carving Station, Peri Peri Whole Salmon

Breads, starting with these Rolls

Herb Focaccia

Pita Bread...

Moroccan Multigrain Bread

I think this was Jalapeno Corn Bread

And some Cold Lunch Foods, like this Black-Eyed Pea Salad...

Assorted Bean Salad with Whole Grain Mustard Vinaigrette

And something they called Trek Power Salad (which I think was a mixture of quinoa, spinach, beets, edamame, and dried cranberries)…

Some Fruits, including Grapes & Pineapple

Then from Kids Stations, there was Whipped Mashed Potatoes

Sauteed Green Beans

And Chicken Drumsticks

Sliced Ham & Turkey, Cheddar Cheese, Pickles and Apple Sauce

Corn Dog Nuggets

White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese

And Corn Medley

And last but not least, Desserts.  Starting with Strawberry Cake with White Chocolate

Mini Turtle Brownies

Almond Cake with Raspberry Panna Cotta

I think this was Chocolate Cheesecake

Here are some photos of my plate with Scrambled Eggs, Ham & Cheese Frittata, Ham with Mustard Sauce, Roasted Potatoes, Bacon, Fried Plantains, Sweet Potato Casserole, and Tater Tots…

As you can see I like the breakfast foods here.  Everything I tried was good but my favorite is always the ham with mustard sauce.

I also had a second plate with some sweet options…

You can’t go wrong with Mickey waffles and Krispy Kremes!

Oh, we also had the Passion Fruit, Orange and Guava Juice.  I think it’s called Jungle Juice here…

Next the characters in their safari attire.  First came Goofy…

Mickey…

Donald…

Daisy also came to our table while I was up at the buffet line taking some more photos so I missed getting her photo.

And that just leaves the ratings and rankings.  Both Yelp and Trip Advisor reviewers gave Tusker House 4 stars.  I would probably agree with that assessment.  As far as Disney character breakfasts, Tusker House comes in at #3 for me behind my favorite Garden Grill and my second favorite Crystal Palace.  On Trip Advisor the reviewers rank Tusker House #281 of the more than 3,000 Orlando area restaurants reviewed there.  Narrowing it down to just the Disney World area restaurants, Tusker House ranks #85.
