Wilderness Lodge Room 4046

Upon entering my room #4046 on the 4th floor, it seemed no different than any of the other Wilderness Lodge rooms that I’ve stayed in (well, except for the handicapped room that I once was given).

I had booked a standard view room so was fully expecting to see the parking lot or roof top or even the dumpsters from the balcony of my room.  But instead I had a construction view…

Construction of the new Disney Vacation Club cabins…

But if you looked over and beyond the cabin construction, to the right was the Contemporary Resort…

And to the left was Cinderella’s Castle…

So if I had been in my room on any of the three evenings that I stayed here, I probably would have had a decent view of the fireworks.  Which brings to mind this question…once construction of the cabins is complete, will this room (and rooms nearby with a similar view) still be considered standard view or will these rooms be upgraded to Magic Kingdom view at a premium price?

ETA: I just found an article from Oct. 2013 on the touringplans.com website which talked about why it is important to make room requests at the Wilderness Lodge.  Here is a portion of that article…

Why is this important?

There are definitely rooms with bad views at the Wilderness Lodge. If you don’t make a room request and leave the choice to Disney, you could end up with one of them. For example, if you’ve reserved a Standard View room at the Wilderness Lodge and let Disney pick your room, you could end up in room 4046, with a view of … trucks:

WL-4046

Yep, that was my Room #4046 that was given as a prime example of a standard view room with a bad view.   Goes to show that things are constantly changing at Disney World.
