Yacht Club Room #4154

For one night only, March 8, 2021, my husband and I stayed at the Yacht Club Resort. Though we had booked (with a 35% discount) a Standard view room we were given a complimentary upgrade to Garden view. This turned out to be Room #4154.

Here’s a resort map with a red arrow to give you an idea of our room location…

The view from our room’s balcony was of the Yacht Club’s wedding gazebo. Here is the view by day…

And by night…

It was a pretty view. And speaking of our balcony, our room had a full-size one…

But now let’s take a look inside the room.  The last time I’d stayed at the Yacht Club was in the Fall of 2016.  At that time my room looked like this…

I commented in my review then that I thought the rooms were in need of an update and sure enough they started refurbishing them within days after my visit.

So this was the end result…

Gone are the nautical themed headboards, bed runners, decorative pillows, etc. I get that the bed runners and pillows were removed from all of the Disney resort rooms because they aren’t hygienic but I kind of miss the character and color they added to the rooms. They were often themed to the resort, which made them more unique. But again, I do understand the need for cleanliness, especially during a pandemic.

Another change which seems to be a common one as Disney refurbishes their resort rooms, is that the carpet has been replaced by laminate flooring. Again I’m sure that it’s easier to keep it clean, which is a plus.

And check out all of the space between the bed frame and the floor…

I suppose you could store an empty and closed suitcase underneath the bed, but I don’t typically stay long enough at any one Disney hotel to unpack my whole suitcase. If you’ve read my previous trip reports you know that I’m fond of resort hopping on my longer trips.

Here are some other features and décor of our room…

There is a small table that pulls out from underneath the desk. This worked well in the morning for eating my breakfast…

I noticed the cute Captain Mickey lamp that they used to have here…

Had been replaced by this lamp…

The night stand added a little character to the room. I thought it had the look of a nautical trunk.

I liked the curtains too…

A closer look…

Some cool constellations there. Do you see Pluto? The dog not the planet, lol.

Another nice feature of the room that I haven’t seen yet in other hotel rooms (at Disney or elsewhere)…

Those sleeping on the opposite side of the bed from the nightstand (which was me on this night) have a place to plug in their phone and a shelf to lay it on. A little thing but soooo nice!

Next up is the bathroom, which like most of the Deluxe resorts is divided into the sink area (with double sinks)…

And the tub/shower and toilet room…

There were a couple of nice upgrades regarding the tub/shower. Sliding glass shower doors have replaced the usual shower curtains, which means your less likely to get water spills on the floor when taking a shower.

Also check out the shower head…

I think they call this a rain shower head and it was awesome. I want this now for my shower at home!

I was glad to see that they had not yet converted to the soap dispensers in the showers…

I love to take the unused stuff home with me…

Another feature that I haven’t seen in the other Disney resorts is the sliding door that divides the sink area from the bedroom area of the room…

This is nice to have in the morning when you are up at 7:00 a.m. trying to join the queue for a boarding group on the Star Wars Rise of the Resistance ride while your husband is trying to sleep, lol.

Another unusual door feature of this room is the pocket door instead of regular hinged door for the bathroom…

My first thought when I saw it was, “Bummer, no full length mirror”, as this is usually where they put it. But then I opened up the closet area…

And speaking of the closet, let’s check it out. First one side…

And the other…

“But where is the ironing board and iron?”, you ask. Well did you notice the third section of the closet?…

Let’s look inside…

What a great idea! So much more convenient than hauling out the full size ironing board and having it be in the way of everyone trying to get to and from the bathroom. And notice the safe is hiding underneath the ironing board.

I think that just leaves the beverage station…

Ice bucket, Keurig coffee maker (which we used in the morning), Joffrey’s French roast coffee pods, condiments and plastic and paper cups. No more glasses or coffee mugs. Again, another understandable change.

And the refrigerator was, like usual, in the cabinet below…

But it wasn’t the usual Disney fridge. It was more like a cooler with a glass door. But I put some water bottles in there and they were cold the next morning to take with us to the park. So whatever it is, it did the job.

So overall, I really liked our room at the Yacht Club. During my last few trips I’ve stayed at the Beach Club but I think I like the rooms at the Yacht Club better. So if given the choice and for the same price, I think I would prefer the Yacht Club. But then again I haven’t stayed at my old favorite, the Boardwalk Inn, for a few years. I wonder when it’s going to reopen? Lol
