Though we had reserved a standard view room (the least expensive room category at the Yacht Club) we were assigned a room on the 5th floor, which at the Yacht Club is their Club Level floor. This would normally mean we had received a significant complimentary upgrade (which, this did happen to me once in December 2013 and it just so happens it was at the Yacht Club), but since Club Level services had yet to reopen/restart after the the COVID shutdown, it was not a big deal.
But let’s start from the beginning, with the Yacht Club lobby. I did not notice any changes there since I stayed there for one night in early March 2021.
It was still pretty quiet there and with the same decor…
And they had the same signs posted…
Yachtsman Steakhouse, Crew’s Cup Lounge, and Cape May Cafe (at the Beach Club) had not yet reopened at this time so they were still missing. Note: While Cape May reopened a few weeks after we were there, Yachtsman Steakhouse and the Crew’s Cup didn’t open until August.
And here was the updated list of their Recreational Offerings at that time…
Now on to our room, #5210. I actually didn’t realize that our room was on the Club Level until I got into the elevator. Normally I would have had to touch my magic band or room key card to be able to push the 5th floor button and gain access to this floor but this feature had been deactivated.
When I got off the elevator at the 5th floor it brought back such great memories of that wonderful, surprise complimentary upgrade to Club Level.
I remember first sitting down here with a Club Level Castmember and being in a state of shock as she checked me in…
I also have fond memories of the delicious offerings served in this lounge…
I do not remember this monkey lamp that sat in corner of the hallway though…
Did there used to be a monkey lamp like this in the lobby? I don’t remember seeing it there now. Could this be the same monkey? And how do monkeys relate to the Yacht Club theme? So many questions, lol.
But anyway, I continued to the end of the hallway, then followed the room number signs by making a short turn to the left. This is when I discovered that our room, #5210, was tucked away in the corner to the left. Here is a map of the 4th and 5th floors that I found online…
So our room was a corner room, as is 4210 directly below us (per the room map). Therefore, if you like the look of our corner room but aren’t staying Club Level (once it reopens), then you could ask for Room #4210.
Ok, so let’s look inside our corner room. The first thing I noticed, because it was different than any other Disney resort room I’ve stayed in, is that there were two large windows on the left side of the room…
These were in addition to the usual balcony door…
This made for a lot of natural light in the room, which made it seem larger. And our view from the windows and looking to the right from our balcony was the resort’s front entrance…
And speaking of the balcony, this was a full balcony with 2 chairs and a table…
Going back inside, the rest of this room seemed the same as Room #4154 where I had stayed recently. Although this time housekeeping had made this cute Mickey for us…
That’s always a fun little extra to receive. But otherwise the bathroom setup was the same…
With the vanity and double sinks being separated from the toilet and tub/shower by a pocket door.
This is definitely the bathroom design that I prefer. I also appreciated that they still had the personal-size toiletries, both on the vanity/sink area…
And also in the tub/shower…
I also liked how the ironing board conveniently folds down from the closet…
Though it was not a full-size board, it was big enough to take care of my ironing needs.
Another little thing I like about the Yacht Club rooms is that there is a shelf and outlet on the other side of the bed (opposite of the nightstand) which was convenient for me to charge my phone when my husband shared one of the beds during my last stay at the Yacht Club…
Oh, and speaking of the nightstand, just as the one at the Grand Floridian seemed to be Beauty & the Beast themed, at the Yacht Club they are nautically themed…
At the nightstand there were USB ports and a regular outlet for your phone charging convenience.
So overall, I’ve come to really like the Yacht Club. My favorite Disney resort used to be the Boardwalk Inn, but after my last two recent stays at the Yacht Club I’ve come to appreciate the updated features of its rooms. I know that the Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge have recently completed the renovation of their rooms and the Contemporary is still in the renovation process, but as of now I can say that the Yacht Club is my favorite Disney resort. Its one weakness though is its quick service restaurant, the Market at Ale & Compass. Unfortunately the Epcot resorts have never had great quick service dining options. I was hoping that when they opened the Market about 4 years ago that that weakness would be rectified, at least at the Yacht Club. But sadly, in my opinion, the Yacht & Beach Club resorts still need a good quick service restaurant, Perhaps they should have one great restaurant for the two resorts instead of the two mediocre ones they have now. However, the bottom line is that if all three Disney-owned Epcot resorts (Yacht, Beach and Boardwalk) were available and offered at the same price I would now choose the Yacht Club. As of now anyway, lol. But the key words in my statement are “at the same price”. I can be easily swayed by a room discount, as was the case for my upcoming trip.
