Beaches and Cream – October 2021

First a photo inside the restaurant…

This place is so much bigger than it used to be. I remember the days when they had just a few tables, a few booths, and some counter seating. I’m somewhat torn about this remodel and expansion that took place in late 2019. While I do appreciate that it is much easier to get a reservation here now than it used to be when this place was tiny, I miss the unique character and cozy feeling of the original version of Beaches and Cream.

Moving on now to the food and beverages. We both started with our usual here…

Vanilla Coke ($4.29 + $.50 for the vanilla syrup)

Love the vanilla coke here…a soda fountain classic! And I love that they gave us multiple free refills, including one in a to-go cup to take with us. We of course rated our cokes a 5.

We were hungry but I knew that I needed to save room for ice cream, so we decided to share an entrée…

Beaches & Cream Grilled Cheese $13.00

This normally comes with creamy tomato soup but we opted to get onion rings instead for an upcharge of $1.25.

The appearance of this sandwich was very underwhelming, however it tasted pretty good. But actually, though it’s been awhile since I’ve had the grilled cheese at Woody’s Lunch Box (a quick service at Hollywood Studios), I remember it to be better than this one and for less money. We did though enjoy it and the onion rings and at that time gave this sandwich and onion rings combo a rating of 4.

NOTE: The current price (as of March 2024) of the Beaches & Cream Grilled Cheese is $16.00 vs. the Woody’s Lunch Box Grilled Cheese is $10.29. With this in mind, the 4 rating might be a bit generous.

The star of Beaches & Cream though is their ice cream desserts. My personal favorite of these is what we had during this visit. We shared the…

This is the smaller 2 scoops (of ice cream) version of their No Way Jose Sundae. I was charged for a regular 2 scoop Old Fashioned Sundae which normally comes with your choice of one topping and at this time was $8.00. So we got two scoops of ice cream (one vanilla, one chocolate) and two toppings (hot fudge and peanut butter) plus all of the additional toppings that normally come with a No Way Jose (mini chocolate and peanut butter chips, whipped cream and a maraschino cherry). I was only charged $1 extra for the second “sauce” topping, so my total charge was $9.00. If we had gotten the regular No Way Jose with 3 scoops of ice cream then the charge would have been $11.00 ($2 more for the third scoop of ice cream). Since the smaller version was plenty for us to share, I was happy to save the $2.00. And I was even happier about how good this sundae tasted…just as it always does. Our rating was a perfect 5!

NOTE: The No Way Jose is still on the current menu (as of March 2024) at Beaches & Cream but the price is now $12.50. The smaller version that we got would be $9.75.

Would we return to Beaches & Cream? As long as the No Way Jose is on the menu, we certainly would. And have a reservation to do so on our upcoming trip!
