Cape May Café Breakfast – October 2021

When Cape May Café reopened in May 2021 (post-Covid shutdown) it did not reopen its buffet. Like Chef Mickey’s they were serving All-You-Care-To-Enjoy family-style meals during both breakfast and dinner. But unlike Chef Mickey’s the characters had not yet returned, The price of this breakfast was therefore reduced to $25.00 (less a 10% discount for paying with my Disney VISA). I thought this was pretty reasonable for an AYCTE meal at Disney and since I was staying at the Beach Club it was very convenient.

Note: Cape May Café returned to a buffet meal in February 2022 and the characters (Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy in fun beach outfits) returned to their breakfast later that year. The current price (as of March 2024) has therefore almost doubled. It is now $47.00.

I was dining solo for this one but you wouldn’t know that from the amount of food I was served. First my server brought this basket of their…

A closer look…

Salted Caramel “Beach Buns” topped with Cinnamon Streusel and Vanilla Cream

These were good but sweet. I couldn’t eat more than one of the four I received. Rating of 4.

On the lighter side, I also received this bowl of fresh fruit…

My server had taken my beverage order soon after I was seated…

I requested both coffee (and was brought a large carafe) and orange juice.

I could then see my server at the buffet adding a Mickey waffle (which were being made fresh there) to my breakfast platter…

Then he brought this platter to my table…

All the usual breakfast standards, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, tater tots, 1/2 slice of brioche french toast, and a Mickey waffle. Pretty much the same as Chef Mickey’s except the cheesy potatoes were much better than the tots here. Overall I would rate this platter a 3.

The highlight of this meal for me though was that I was able to order an omelet…

This being my last meal of the trip, my notes were very limited. However I believe this was a Western omelet with ham, cheese and some veggies. It was very nice to have this freshly made option available. I gave it a rating of 4.

So overall this meal was fine. Food-wise it was probably better than Chef Mickey’s but without the characters it just wasn’t anything special. For the money, I probably would have gotten a better breakfast at the Ale & Compass next door at the Yacht Club.
