Contemporary Resort Tower Theme Park View Room #4548 – March 2024

Since I had stayed at the Contemporary during my last Disney trip and gave many details regarding the refurbished (in Summer 2021) resort, I’ll skip all that this time around and just go straight to the room review. But here is a link to my 2021 Contemporary Resort Review in case you’d like more information.

October 2021 Contemporary Resort Review

Now on to my 2024 Trip and our stay in Main Tower Room…

So the room numbers at the Contemporary Resort are a bit confusing. Though my assigned room (#4548) started with the number 4 it was not located on the 4th floor. Instead the “4” indicates that my room was located in the main tower of the resort. Rooms starting with a “5” or “6” are located in the Garden Wing. Then the second number, a “5”, indicates the floor. However, if you thought my room was located on the 5th floor, you would be wrong. The guest rooms at the Contemporary do not start until the 5th floor, so the rooms located on that floor are 4101 – 4124. So with my assigned room being 4548, that meant it was actually on the 9th floor of the main tower. Clear as mud, right? haha

On the map shown above the room numbers on the Magic Kingdom side (Theme Park View) of the Tower end with 25 – 48, with 25 being closer to the Garden wing and 48 being closest to the Magic Kingdom.  Rooms ending with 01 – 24 would be located on the other side of each floor and would have a view of Bay Lake. Since I had stayed in Room #4544 (with a Theme Park View) on my last trip, I knew exactly where Room #4548 was. It was just four rooms further down the hallway. Actually it was at the very end of the hallway…

Which meant it was the closest room on the 9th floor to MAGIC KINGDOM!!!

So of course, the first thing I did after entering our room was to go out onto our balcony to look around and take some photos…

From our balcony you could hear the train whistle of the Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom, which was something we didn’t get to see or hear during our last stay in October 2021 because it was shut down in December 2018 for construction of the TRON roller coaster and didn’t reopen until December 2022.

I also got my first (first-hand) view of the new DVC tower being built at the Polynesian resort across the lake…

…which looks nothing like the rest of the Polynesian resort. Why???

Ok, now some photos from inside the room, themed to The Incredibles. Our room had two queen size beds…

Plus a pull-out sofa, so the room could sleep 5…

This was the exact same setup as Room #4544 where we stayed in October 2021.

Although this time we had this on our bed, SCORE! (haha)…

One more new addition was that our room had this…

‘Hey Disney!’ is an Amazon Alexa device that’s now available in hotel rooms at Walt Disney World Resort. As of mid-February 2024, every one of its more than 28,000 hotel rooms is equipped with the ‘Hey Disney!’ device and all guests in those rooms now have access to the free voice assistant service.

I didn’t notice any other changes to the bedroom or bathroom areas of our room…

I do like the monorail that is etched into the bathroom mirror but I don’t like that the vanity/sinks are located in the same section of the bathroom as the tub/shower. Since the shower has a glass door there is no privacy.

The only privacy allowed when sharing the bathroom was the pocket doors between the toilet room and the rest of the bathroom…

Many of Disney’s other resorts have the vanity/sinks area located separately from the shower/tub and toilet, which I much prefer.

One thing that I appreciated about the Contemporary room is that there was a place to set cell phone, glasses, etc. and an outlet & charging station on my side of the bed…

This made sleeping on the side of the bed which was not next to the nightstand much less inconvenient. Perhaps a small thing, but something which wasn’t offered at any of the other hotels on this trip.

As I previously said in my 2021 review, I’m not really a fan of the The Incredibles movie so the “Incredibleness” of the Contemporary’s rooms is kind of lost on me. However, just like in 2021, I am still in awe of the “Incredible” views from the balcony of their Tower Theme Park View rooms.

In the interest of full disclosure though, on the first day (I believe it was January 3, 2024) that Disney offered room discounts for most nights from March 25 – July 7, 2024, I checked for a discounted room (of any kind) at the Polynesian Resort. This was my first choice because I really wanted to stay in one of their newly refurbished rooms, themed to the Moana movie. Unfortunately there was nothing available there with a discount. While I could have gotten a standard view room (with a discount) at the Grand Floridian, which also has newly refurbished rooms, for about the same price I was able to get the discount on a Theme Park View room at the Contemporary. So I of course chose the Contemporary for that “Incredible” view. As a side note, during the next few months before my trip, I checked several times to see if any discounted rooms at the Polynesian opened up but they never did. Also I didn’t ever see the Contemporary Theme Park View rooms available again after that first day (not even at regular price), so I was very happy that I’d jumped at the opportunity while it was (very briefly) available.

So overall, I was again satisfied with my 2 night stay at the Contemporary Resort. Because we didn’t go to the parks until the rest of our group arrived a few days later, we spent more time in our room than during the rest of our trip. So I felt like the added cost of the upgraded view was worth it.

Especially this view…

And watching Enchanted, the Magic Kingdom fireworks show, (while listening to the synchronized music on our tv, I think on Channel 105) from the comfort of our room’s balcony (both nights of our stay) was the icing on the cake…
