Kona Cafe Breakfast – March 2024

Kona Cafe has long been one of my favorite Disney restaurants for breakfast. So with the Polynesian Resort being a quick monorail ride away from our resort, the Contemporary, I could not resist heading to Kona Cafe for breakfast on our first morning at Disney World.

So let’s start this review with some menu photos. First the full menu posted outside the restaurant…

Then a photo of just the Entrée section that might be a bit more legible…

We were seated at a booth for 2 along the far right wall of the restaurant…

I’ve been to Kona many times but have never been seated along this wall. We liked it! Not only did it seem more private but it also was in a carpeted area (most of the restaurant is not carpeted), which meant it was quieter. The noise level has been a common complaint for my husband at Kona (and many other Disney restaurants) so he appreciated our table’s location.

For our beverages, we both asked for coffee and a glass of water…

Freshly Brewed Joffrey’s Coffee™ Hawaiian Kona Blend – $4.29

We both loved the Kona coffee and appreciated that our server left the pot on the table, as we both enjoyed more than one cup. It ended up being our favorite coffee of the trip. In fact we liked it so much that we visited the Joffrey’s store at Disney Springs later in our trip to get a package of the Kona blend coffee to take home with us. Unfortunately it was quite expensive ($20.99 for a 16 oz. package) but at least I remembered to use my Disney Chase VISA and received a 20% discount. Had it been more reasonably priced though I would have bought several packages and filled up my freezer. But anyway, we both gave the Kona coffee a rating of 5 (Excellent)!

Now on to our entrée choices. If you’ve read my previous Kona reviews you probably know what I chose…

Macadamia Nut Pancakes topped with Macadamia Nut Butter and Pineapple Sauce. Served with your choice of Ham, Spiced Ham, Bacon, or Sausage (which was my choice). – $16.00

Though these are served with a small pitcher of syrup, I don’t use it on these pancakes. Between the richness of the pancakes (which have a good amount of macadamia nuts), the sweetness of the pineapple sauce, and the macadamia nut butter, these are perfect for me as is. Oh, and I also love the sausage at Kona. Normally I would choose bacon over sausage, but Kona sausage is the exception. The links are always plump, juicy and flavorful. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for the pancakes and sausage and another perfect rating of 5 (Excellent)!

As for Don, his entrée choice was the…

Ham and Cheese Omelet with Home-fried Potatoes – $17.00

Although not listed in the menu description, this entrée included two small biscuits. The omelet was chocked full of pieces of ham and shredded cheddar cheese. I thought the potatoes looked a little overcooked but he said they were good. I don’t think he tried the biscuits. Don really enjoyed the omelet though and ate every bite. His rating was a near perfect 4.5 (Very good).

This was another great Kona Cafe breakfast! But would it make our list of Top 5 favorite meals for this trip? We’ll see.

One added note: I received a 10% discount at Kona Cafe by paying with Disney Chase VISA.
