First some photos of this new restaurant which had just opened in Epcot’s France pavilion on October 1, 2021.
Fairly bland decor. Lots of gray, brown and stone. Everything was new and clean but pretty boring.
Here are some photos of the menu…
We had the option of ordering items a la carte but we decided that doing the Prix Fix menu was the way to go here. For the reasonable price of $33.00 we could get a 3 course meal plus a glass of hard cider.
NOTE: The current price (as of Feb. 2024) of this Prix Fix option is $39.95.
We both chose the Cidre Doux, which was their sweetest hard cider option.
It was very good. Light and fruity. Tasted like apple cider. We liked it so much that we asked our server for the brand and were told it was Kerisac. Unfortunately I’ve never seen this French brand of cider at any of our local liquor stores. But anyway, we both rated this a 5.
We chose differently for all of our remaining options. Andrew went with the Soup of the Day…
This was Potato Leek Soup. Unfortunately this was very thin with very few potatoes. It also had very little flavor. Consequently he rated it only a 2.
I was equally unenthused about my choice…
This had lots of Frisee and Bibb Lettuce, which are okay but not my favorite types of salad greens. I did like the croutons though and they were plentiful. The cherry tomatoes were also ripe and sweet. I wasn’t a fan of the dressing. I believe it was a honey dijon vinaigrette and it had a very strong, overpowering flavor. So I also gave my first course a rating of 2.
Andrew’s choice for his savory crepe (aka Galette)…
He didn’t say much about this other than he rated it a 4 so he must have liked it.
My choice of Galette was the…
I didn’t like the taste of the crepe itself. The buckwheat (which I learned is not actually wheat but a grass seed that is used to make gluten-free flour) has a weird flavor. I know it’s more healthy and nutritious but I still much prefer wheat flour. Also the crepe tasted burned around the edges. The cheese was good but it could have used more of it and less onions…which were in abundance. The best part was the ham, which reminded me of Prosciutto. It was very good. Without it this would have been a 2 but the ham elevated my rating to a 2 1/2.
I did though like my Dessert Crepe…
Pomme Crepe with Caramelized Apples and Caramel Beurre Sale (Caramel Sauce)
Thankfully the dessert crepes were not made with buckwheat flour. It was very tasty, especially that caramel sauce. I gave this a rating of 4.
Andrew’s choice was the…
Gourmande Crepe with Hazelnut Chocolate Spread and topped with Whipped Cream
This was another winner and he also gave his dessert a 4 rating.
So overall I’m glad we got to try several things here and saved about $5 by doing the Prix Fix meal rather than ordering the three courses plus hard cider a la carte. However, since I only liked the cider and the dessert crepe, I probably would just order from their quick service window, Crêpes À Emporter, next time. Though they don’t have my dessert crepe on the quick service menu, they do have the Nutella one, as well as some others that sound good. Oh, and you can also get that deliciously sweet cider at the window too.
