Rosa Mexicano Breakfast – March 2025

First a few photos of this relatively new restaurant (opened in March 2023) located on the first floor of the Dolphin Hotel…

My family had had dinner at Rosa Mexicano during our April 2024 trip, but sadly were not all that impressed with the food. However, since we were staying at the Dolphin on the first night of this trip, I decided to give it another chance. This time trying it for breakfast…

For the sake of my review, I wanted to try as many things as possible here so I decided that the best way to do that was the Breakfast Buffet option for $29.99. Don said he didn’t want that much food, so he instead went with the Continental Breakfast Buffet for $21.99.

The Continental Breakfast Buffet included four kinds of Cold Cereal…

As well as Steel-Cut Oatmeal and White Corn Grits, plus toppings…

Also there were Assorted Danishes, Croissants, Muffins, and Cinnamon Rolls…

And then Fresh Fruit Salad, Greek Yogurt Parfaits, Tres Leches Overnight Oats, Rosa’s Guacamole & Toast and Hard-Boiled Eggs…

In addition, included with the Continental Breakfast were coffee and/or juice.

Then for an additional $8.00 I could have anything from the Continental section of their buffet plus their Hot Selections area, which had Bacon, Pork Sausage, Chorizo Sausage, and Ranch-Style Potatoes. Also there were Scrambled Eggs with toppings (fresh salsa, lime crema, and crispy tortilla strips) and Pancakes & Mickey Waffles with toppings (cinnamon whipped cream and Mexican chocolate ganache) in this section. I didn’t take any photos of this area because it was manned by a server who plated your selections for you. This made it a little awkward for me to take photos.

Don’s selections for his Continental breakfast were…

Oatmeal topped with raisins and brown sugar and a hard boiled egg. These were fine, nothing of note about them. He gave these a rating of 3.

The highlight of his breakfast was the Yogurt Parfait…

He really liked this, so much so that he gave it a perfect rating of 5.

From the Continental section of the buffet I tried these three things…

The fruit (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, strawberries and blueberries) was good and so was the avocado toast (Rosa’s Guacamole Toast). This was a mini toast topped with the restaurant’s signature guacamole, a marinated cherry tomato, and a slice of jalapeno. The guacamole had just a little spice but not too much. I would give both the fruit and toast a rating of 4.

The highlight from this plate though was the Tres Leches Overnight Oats, which I loved! This I gave a perfect rating of 5.

Then from the Hot section of the buffet I tried…

The scrambled eggs (which I got with all their available toppings) and the thick, crispy bacon were very good and I gave both a rating of 4 1/2.

As you can see I got two Mickey waffles so that I could try one topped with the Mexican chocolate sauce and cinnamon whipped cream while topping the other one with just maple syrup (which they served in individual-size bottles)…

I had heard from one of the food vloggers that I follow that Rosa Mexicano served Churro Waffles but these clearly looked and tasted like regular Mickey waffles. The option of having the Mexican chocolate sauce and cinnamon whipped cream was the only thing that made them different. So I asked our server about the Churro Waffles and discovered that while these are an option on their regular menu for $23.00 (Sweet Cinnamon-Crusted Waffles topped with Mexican chocolate sauce and whipped cream), the ones served on the buffet were just regular Mickey waffles. So anyway, these were good and I gave them a rating of 4 but I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to try the Churro Waffles. However, I did find them later in the trip on the buffet at the Crystal Palace character breakfast at Magic Kingdom.

In addition to bringing us coffee and juice (included with our meals) and keeping our cups refilled, our server offered me a Made-to-Order Omelet. I chose a Veggie Omelet with cheddar cheese…

I failed to write in my notes what veggies were included but I know it had mushrooms and spinach and I think also green peppers and onion. Also there was lots of cheddar cheese…

It was good and very filling. I gave it a rating of 4.

One more thing to mention is that our server here, Fatimazohra, was great. She was very friendly and attentive. I would give her our “Best Server of the Trip” Award and a perfect rating of 5.

So overall I was pleased with this meal and would recommend having breakfast rather than dinner here, especially if you are staying at the Swan & Dolphin or at one of the nearby resorts. However, keep in mind that if you drive to the Dolphin to dine at Rosa Mexicano or one of the other restaurants here, you will have to pay for parking. Would this meal have been worth paying an extra $36 for? No, definitely not.
