Rose & Crown Fireworks Dining Package Dinner – Oct. 2021

I believe the official check in time for this dinner was 9:00 (with the fireworks starting at 9:45 the night we were there), however we were able to check in early and by 8:30 we were seated at our reserved table on the lower patio…

Here are photos of the special Prix Fixe menu, starting with the Alcoholic Beverages…

You could order an unlimited number of these beverages. We both chose to start with their Featured Beverage…
Sparkling Duchess with Prosecco and St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur topped with a splash of ginger ale and garnished with fresh mint

Unlike the other beverage choices, I believe this is only available at the Rose & Crown as part of this Dining Package. We both really enjoyed this. I had at least one refill. Andrew, on the other hand, had several, as evidenced by all of the mint leaves on our table at the end of our meal…

So anyway, we gave this cocktail a rating of 5. I wish it was available for purchase at the Rose & Crown Pub.

Note: Though not on their regular menu I would value this cocktail at $10/each and we had about 10 of them so $100 total value.

Moving on to our food choices…

There were only two options for our appetizer so we got one of each and shared them. First the…

United Kingdom Cheese Platter – A Selection of Traditional British Cheeses with Accompaniments (price listed on the Rose & Crown’s regular 2021 menu – $14.00)

I believe the cheeses were Stilton Blue, Cotswold, and Irish Cheddar, along with accompaniments of apple chutney, sweet onion jam and curry cauliflower. I’m pretty sure the crackers were the Crunchmaster brand of gluten-free multi-grain crackers. This was fine but there was nothing that stood out as special about it. We gave the cheese platter a rating of 3.

Are other appetizer was the…

Scottish Egg – Golden-fried Hard-boiled Cage-free Egg wrapped in Sausage with Mustard Sauce (price listed on the Rose & Crown’s regular 2021 menu – $12.00)

I’ve always enjoyed the Scottish Eggs at the Rose & Crown, especially with the addition of the mustard sauce…and I am not usually a fan of mustard. Our rating was a solid 4.

There were only four options for our entrée. Other than the two we chose, they also had Shepherd’s Pie and Catch of the Day, which I believe was Grilled Salmon.

But our choices were the Rose & Crown’s Signature Dish, Fish & Chips

Note: Price listed on the Rose & Crown’s regular 2021 menu – $25.00

This was a generous portion of three medium-size pieces of beer-battered fried cod.  I seem to recall that the last time I had the Fish & Chips at the Rose & Crown Restaurant I only received one large piece so this seemed to be “more bang for your buck.”  Anyway, Andrew enjoyed this and gave it a rating of 4.

Though I too had my eye on the Fish & Chips, I made the sacrifice (for the sake of more variety for this review) and went with my second choice…

Bangers and Mash – Traditional Sausage with Colcannon Potatoes, Mushroom, Onion, and Red Wine Demi Sauce (price listed on the Rose & Crown’s regular 2021 menu – $21.00)

While this was fine, I was a bit envious of Andrew’s fish.  But I should mention that I was coming down with a cold and taking medication, which I think was throwing off my taste buds.  So I gave this a middle of the road rating of 3.

Before dessert was served the show began promptly at 9:45.  This was Harmonious, which was the new show for the 100th Anniversary Celebration.  It had just opened on October 1, 2021.  This was our last time seeing Harmonious since it was temporarily replaced by Epcot Forever in early April 2023 and then by a new show, Luminous: The Symphony of Us, on December 5, 2023.

Here are some photos that I took from the comfort of our table…

And then we had our dessert…

Pudding Platter – A Trio of Rose & Crown’s favorites featuring Sticky Toffee Pudding, Strawberry Trifle, and Malted Milk Chocolate Mousse with Chocolate Shortbread Ganache

Note: While this sampler dessert platter was not available on the regular restaurant menu, based on the prices of the full size portions of these desserts I would estimate a value of $15 for this platter. Since we each received a platter that was a total value of $30.

While these were good, I’ve had the regular Sticky Toffee Pudding at the Rose & Crown and it was better than this mini version. I’m guessing that might be the case for all three of these desserts. But for me the Sticky Toffee Pudding was still my favorite of these three, mostly because of its warm butter-rum sauce. Anyway, our rating for the dessert platter was a 3.

With dessert, I also asked for some Hot Tea and they brought me my own little teapot filled with hot water and a tea bag with my choice of Twining’s tea…

Note: Hot Tea was on their regular menu for a price of $3.79.

So overall this meal was more about the experience (having a great view from the comfort and privacy of your own table) than the food. With the exception of our R & C favorites, Fish & Chips and Scottish Egg, the food was fine but nothing special. Also the options were very limited, with just two appetizer choices and four entrees. The unlimited beverages (including several alcoholic options) was a huge benefit though, especially if you enjoy the R & C’s beers and ciders. I probably would have partaken in more of these (I really like their Cider & Black) but having taken cold medication I was careful to limit myself. However, I think Andrew more than made up for this, lol. So let’s talk about overall value of the food and beverages we had. Adding up my estimated prices for these I came up with a total of $243 (including tax and 18% tip). My receipt shows that we paid a total of $180.88. So the key to maximizing the value here is taking advantage of the unlimited alcohol beverages. However then there is the less tangible value of the experience, which is difficult to assign a dollar value to. This is something that you will need to determine for yourself, but for us this experience was well worth the money.

Note: The current price of this Dining Package (as of March 2024) is listed on the Disney World website as $92 (including tax & gratuity) for adults and $41 for children (ages 3 – 9) and still includes unlimited beverages.
