Teppan Edo Dinner – April 2024

There were 12 of us for this dinner at Epcot’s Japanese hibachi restaurant. With their hibachi tables accommodating only 8, we had to be divided into two groups. The logical division was for the parents (my husband, me and Bryan’s parents, Christine and Kevin) to sit at one table along with 4 strangers and then the 8 “kids” (all adults) at the other table.

Christine and Kevin (our future in-laws)

Next up, the menus…

Now the problem with having our group divided, with the majority of us sitting at the other table, was that I wasn’t with them to remind everyone to take photos of their meal and didn’t realize they hadn’t remembered to do so until after our dinner I received from them only this one photo of some of their drinks…

The cocktail pictured in the back left side was Jake’s Japan Breeze with Coconut Rum along with Cranberry and Pineapple Juices for $15.00. The back right is Emily’s Tokyo Sunset with Coconut Rum, Creme de Banana, Peach Schnapps, and Pineapple Juice for $16.00. And the cocktail in front is Andrew’s Lemon Shochu Squeeze, which was a glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice on the rocks served with a shot glass of Shochu (a Japanese liquor similar to vodka) to add to it, so basically this was a spiked lemonade. Apparently the winner here (per Emily) was the Japan Breeze, which surprised me because the Tokyo Sunset has always been my personal favorite cocktail at Teppan Edo. I though went with a Sprite at this meal, so I guess I can’t comment this time.

Now for our food, or at least the food that my husband and I had. Once we had placed our orders, our chef came to our table to prepare our meal. There were of course some Mickeys involved…

And of course there was also an onion volcano involved in the preparation…

After the veggies came the noodles and chicken breasts…

While this was happening, we were all served salads, which were included with our meals along with Udon noodles, vegetables (onion, carrots, zucchini, and spinach, I think), and steamed white rice. I didn’t take any photos of these because I wrongly assumed someone at the other table was taking photos. I was wrong, lol. I will say though that I liked the Ginger-Peach salad dressing and because of that I gave the salad a rating of 4.

I did though take a photo of the two dipping sauces we all received…

I believe these were a Yum Yum sauce (left) and a Ginger sauce. I always prefer the Yum Yum, especially with my shrimp.

For my entree I chose the…

Asakusa (Steak & Shrimp) Combination – $48.00

This is my “go to” entree here because I love this combination. If our group is a good indication then this might be their most popular entree since 4 out of 12 ordered this. I again enjoyed my meal and gave it a rating of 4 1/2.

While Christine and Kevin both also had the Asakusa combo, my husband surprised me by ordering this…

Salmon – 6 oz. fresh Scottish Fillet – $39.00

I’m not sure if he ordered this because he was craving salmon or if he did so because it was one of the cheaper entrees on the menu. I suspect the latter is most likely the reason, lol. Anyway he must have liked it because he gave the salmon fillet a rating of 4.

We opted out of dessert (our group of 7 actually had dessert plans for later), however they did bring the Birthday girl (Bryan’s sister, Melissa) a complimentary bowl of ice cream and a few members of the waitstaff gathered to lead us in singing “Happy Birthday” to her…

So this completed our meal. In conclusion, not many of the Epcot restaurants could accommodate our large group of 12, so I was pleased that Teppan Edo was able to and seemed like a perfect fit. The waitstaff is always very polite and efficient and the food has always been consistently good. This time was no different than my previous experiences at Teppan Edo. There are many table service restaurants at Epcot to choose from, more than any of the other Disney World parks, and in my opinion Teppan Edo is one of the best ones.
