The Hollywood Brown Derby – October 2021

First some photos inside the restaurant, starting with the lobby/waiting area. I always enjoy looking at all of the caricatures of famous people on the wall here…

Then some photos from the dining room…

We were lucky to be seated at one of their spacious booths…

Our complimentary basket of rolls…

These rolls are delicious. I was so glad to see them here again, as I’d heard they were gone for awhile. Our rating was a 5.

Then for cocktails choices, starting with Andrew’s…

Hollywood Lights with Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Pineapple and Cranberry Juices – $16.00

This had a glow cube which made it change colors…

It was a winner for him. He gave it a rating of 4.

But I think my choice was even better…

Margarita Flight – $17.00
– The Derby (back right) with Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado Tequila, Cointreau, Sweet & Sour, and a float of Grand Marnier; Pomegranate (front) with Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado, Pomegranate Liqueur, and Sweet & Sour; Blood Orange (back left) with Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado, Solerno Liqueur, Blood Orange Puree, and Sweet & Sour

The Derby was a classic margarita, while the other two were sweeter and fruitier. I really enjoyed all three, but the Pomegranate was my favorite. I liked having the variety and thought this was a great deal at only $17. I gave this flight a perfect 5 rating.

Note: Though I see each of these individual margaritas on the current Hollywood Brown Derby menu (as of March 2024) for $15.50 each, sadly I no longer see the flight.

Now for our food choices, starting with Andrew’s entrée…

The Brown Derby Signature Burger – $24.00
Bacon Jam, Cheddar Cheese, Fried Egg, Russian Dressing, and Hand-cut Fries

This was a decent burger but for $24 it should have been better than decent. Therefore he gave it a rating of 3 1/2.

My choice was something I’ve enjoyed at the Brown Derby previously…

Our Famous Cobb Salad – $20.00
Spit-roasted Turkey, Bacon, Egg, Tomatoes, Blue Cheese, Avocado, and Classic Dressing

This was not nearly as good as I’d remembered it being. It was way too wet from too much dressing. If I were to try this again I would definitely request the dressing be kept on the side. But as it was served, I rated this only a 2.

NOTE: The Hollywood Brown Derby does not currently have a burger on their menu (as of March 20024) but of course their signature Cobb Salad is still offered. However the price has increased to $25.00!

So the best part of our meal, my margarita flight, seems to no longer be offered here. The food was a bit of a disappointment, especially my cobb salad, which is their signature dish. Overall not what you’d expect from a Disney signature restaurant.
