October 2015 Review
Arriving right on time for my 1:00 reservation, I had about a 10 – 15 minute wait to be seated inside in the dining room.
Part of me was hoping to be seated outside because I remembered how very loud the dining room was when I dined here the last time. So loud that even my kids commented on how noisy it was. But thankfully the noise level was not nearly as bad this time around.
Once seated I was presented with their lunch menu…
It was then that I realized that I hadn’t done my research on this one. If I had, I would have known that the panini that I was planning to try here was no longer on the menu. So I needed to quickly come up with a Plan B. While I’ve long wanted to try the Shrimp Scampi at Tony’s, I felt like it would be too heavy of a dish after having had breakfast at BoG and with dinner planned at Party for the Senses. So Plan B became the Insalata Fresca…right up until the moment that my server came to take my order, that is. Then for some crazy reason I heard the word “pizza” coming out of my mouth.
More specifically, this pizza…
Joe’s Artisanal Pizza with Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Roasted Peppers, Caramelized Onions, and garnished with fresh Basil
Obviously this pizza was much larger than I was expecting. I wasn’t crazy about it though so wasn’t tempted to eat more than a few pieces. I must admit that this pizza looked great, so you are probably wondering why I didn’t much care for it. My main problem with it was the pile of shredded parmesan cheese in the middle. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a sprinkling of parmesan cheese on my pizza but I like it to be grated and not shredded. I know it sounds kind of picky, but it’s a texture thing I guess. So anyway, I ate the pieces around the edges and left the middle pretty much untouched.
Which allowed me the room to have an extra slice of the yummy ciabatta bread with olive oil and cracked pepper…
And also to have dessert…
Not very many choices here to pick from, however they all sounded pretty good. Being a big fan of creme brulee and having never tried Tony’s version of this dessert, that is what I decided to order.
This was served with a tasty chocolate biscotti…
One more photo showing the “creme” under the “brulee”…
This was very good. I didn’t really taste the pistachio much though. I think if I’d been eating it while wearing a blindfold I would have thought it was regular vanilla creme brulee. However, whether vanilla flavored or pistachio, it was quite good and probably the best thing I’ve ever had at Tony’s…narrowly beating out the zucchini fries that I had the last time I dined at Tony’s.
