Boma Breakfast

As the sign says, the Boma breakfast buffet features more than 60 items and I took photos of most of them.

So let’s start with the Grilled Asparagus

And Grilled Tomatoes

Pap (Creamy White Cornmeal Porridge)

And Chakalaka (Spicy Stewed Tomatoes & Onions)

From the Carving Station, Oven-roasted Turkey

And also Ham

African-spiced Corned Beef Hash

Next was the Made-to-Order Omelet Station with these options for the ingredients…

Options included two kinds of cheese, three meats, and seven veggies.

Or there were couple of other Egg options, including Scrambled Eggs

Or Scrambled Eggs with Spinach and Goat Cheese

Then from the Cold Section of the buffet, starting with this African Fruit Fool Salad

This was a combination of pineapple, apples, mango, papaya, grapes, bananas, and sweetened shredded coconut with whipped cream and condensed milk topping.

Then an Avocado, Papaya, and Grapefruit Salad

Spinach & Quinoa Salad

The fresh fruit selections included Cantaloupe & Honey Dew Melon

Red Grapes

Pineapple

And Strawberries

Along with Greek Yogurt

And assorted yogurt toppings, including granola…

Then there was Applesauce

Hard-boiled Eggs

Lox (Smoked Salmon)

And accompaniments of sliced Tomatoes, Cucumbers, and Red Onions

Capers, etc

Luncheon Meats (Ham & Salami) and slices of Cheese

Oatmeal

I think these were Apples (in a brown sugar & cinnamon sauce) to add to the Oatmeal…

There were also Raisins

And Brown Sugar

Then there was Fried Quinoa

Next the Breakfast Meats of Bacon

And Sausage Links

These were labeled Western African Sweet Plantains

There are other names for these, but I call them Tater Tots

Biscuits & Gravy

Turkey Bobotie (South African Dish with Turkey, Mushrooms, and Egg)

Two kinds of Pancakes, Plain Pancakes

And Chocolate Chip Pancakes

And of course, Mickey Waffles

French Toast Bread Pudding

Along with both Vanilla Sauce and Pecan Praline Sauce

Then some Breakfast Pastries, like (Krispy Kreme-like) Donuts

And Chocolate Frosted…

I believe these were Apple Danish (they called them Apple Pockets though)…

A sign identified these as Guava Turnovers

Scones

Sticky Buns

Banana Bread

Along with African Chocolate Hazelnut Spread (aka Nutella)

And then there were Assorted Mini-Muffins, including these Orange, Cranberry, and Walnut Muffins

Chocolate Chip Muffins

And Blueberry Muffins

As well as Assorted Bagels

Croissants

And toppings of Strawberry Preserves, Grape Jam, and Orange Marmalade..

Whew, that’s a lot of food!!!

Ok, now for my choices, starting with my beverage…

This was POG (Passion Fruit, Orange, & Guava) Juice.  They might have a different name for here though, like maybe Jungle Juice??  Both this and my coffee were good.

As for my food, here is Plate #1…

The plantain and sausage were both good but my favorite thing on Plate #1 was the ham with mustard sauce.  I’m not really a fan of regular mustard but I love the Boma mustard sauce.  I’ve seen the recipe for it somewhere and the ingredients include teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, honey, chipotle pepper, and both dry and Dijon mustard.  Combined these give this mustard sauce just the right amount of spice and sweetness.

My second favorite thing on my first plate was the Scrambled Eggs with spinach and goat cheese…

But even though I really liked these scrambled eggs, I liked my Made-to-Order Omelet even more…

Another look…

And one more…

As you probably see, I requested and received nearly all of the available ingredients.  This omelet was loaded with meat, veggies and shredded cheddar cheese and it was delicious!

Plate #3 was for my sweets, plus a few slices of bacon…

I of course had to have a Mickey waffle and this was a good one.

I’m also a fan of Krispy Kreme donuts so I couldn’t resist having one of those, with the added bonus of chocolate icing.  Yummy!   Oh, and the bacon was quite good too.

Then last but not least was this…

The French Toast Bread Pudding was delicious, especially with both the vanilla and pecan praline sauces.

So having eaten at Boma for dinner and breakfast on this trip and enjoying both meals, I would rate Boma a 4 1/2.  Trip Advisor reviewers also rated Boma 4 1/2, however it received only a 4 on Yelp.  Boma is ranked #139 of the more than 3,000 Orlando area restaurants and #39 if narrowed down to just the Disney World area restaurants.
